The Vitamix might be one of the best purchases I have made for the Kitchen. It has been a surprise to find that it is used several times a day. And one of the best parts is its self-clean function – cleaning the blending jugs is a no-fuss activity.
One of its key features is the ability to add fruit to the blender to produce a morning drink, complete with the fibre – the high power of the blender means that the drink is smooth and drinkable without feeling like you are chewing on pulp.
Apple and Orange Juice
Try this – place one apple, cored and cut into chunks, and 2 oranges, peeled and cut into chunks, with a few leaves of mint and a squeeze of lemon. Begin to blend on speed 1, then as the fruit is chopped, increase the speed gently through to 10. Blend for 30 seconds, reduce the speed back to 1, stop the blender and pour your drink.
Juice or Smoothies with Vegetables.
Try this – take half or whole zucchini, cut into chunks, and a few small leaves of Spinach. Add some cucumber if desired. Add half a cup or more of water, then blend as described above. A squeeze of lemon juice can also be added, a few leaves of herbs too, and a pinch of salt.
